Keenan Davidse shot an extraordinary 8-under opening round of 63 to move a shot apparent of the chasing pack at the Johannesburg Open in South Africa.

Randpark Golfing Club hosts the remaining European Tour function of the calendar year and it was household favorite Davidse who defied the wind to finest influence as he picked up a few birdies through the opening 5 holes.

Davidse, 28, was fast to get better from a dropped shot on the sixth and went on to make even further gains on the eighth, 12th, 14th and 17th just before ending a successful day in design by holing a huge birdie putt on the 18th.
