NEW YORK — San Jose Sharks defenseman Brenden Dillon has been suspended just one recreation by the NHL for slashing Madison Bowey of the Washington Capitals.

The league’s section of participant safety announced the punishment Tuesday.

Dillon was provided a important penalty and recreation misconduct Monday night for slashing Bowey with five seconds left in the 3rd period of San Jose’s 4-1 decline to the Capitals.

The Sharks’ next recreation is Thursday night from the Carolina Hurricanes.

Dillon will forfeit $17,580.65 of his wage. The money goes to the Players’ Unexpected emergency Guidance Fund.
