POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Mass shootings across the country have prompted Marist School to fall Shooter as the nickname for its sporting activities mascot.

The Poughkeepsie Journal experiences that Marist School arrived up with a new identify for the costumed mascot for its Purple Foxes men’s and women’s basketball groups right after previous month’s mass shooting at a country tunes concert in Las Vegas.

The school’s athletics division settled on Frankie, a nod to President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was born in close by Hyde Park.

The private college or university in Poughkeepsie, north of New York City, debuted the new nickname all through previous weekend’s season openers for each groups.
